With all the challenges that COVID-19 brought to my life, shopping wasn’t one of them. I wanted to do a massive haul and share everything I purchased in quarantine. This quarantine haul will include some Black-Owned brands that I’ve discovered and have fallen in love with!
Beauty is the main focus here, but I know that this has been a difficult time for many of you. If you are here, I hope that this is a space where you can forget about some of your worries and obsess over skincare and makeup with me.
Is it just me or did you make a lot of quarantine purchases too? There was something about being stuck inside that made me buy an excessive amounts of stuff. Anyway, I am so excited to share some of the things I’ve purchased in quarantine with you, and I hope you enjoy this post!
Black Owned Brands I Purchased in Quarantine:
Rosen Skincare
The first Black Owned beauty brand I discovered during quarantine is Rosen Skincare. I purchased the Fade Routine which is for those of us who suffer from the occasional breakout, smalls bumps, and scarring. This routine is made to last for 4 weeks by following the step-by-step directions daily!
The Routine
Super Smoothie Cleanser: The cleanser is my favorite product out of the four. I’ve been using it consistently for about three weeks 2-3 times per week. So far it has kept my oils under control and helped even out the texture of my skin. This contains lemon, strawberry, and raspberry powder that help brighten and smooth the skin.
Tropics Toner: This is a hydrating toner that contains pineapple extract, Hyaluronic Acid, kojic acid, and papaya powder. It is perfect for fading dark spots and providing moisture to the skin.
Tropics Moisturizer: If you have oily skin, you need this moisturizer because it is super lightweight and keeps those oils in check! I use this every morning and every night, it leaves my skin hydrated and soft. This has very similar ingredients to the toner. It contains hyaluronic acid, pineapple extract, kojic acid, and jojoba oil.
Charcoal Face Mask: This mask is another great product for oily skin! I like to apply this in my t-zone where my skin produces the most oil throughout the day. It absorbs any excess oil and dries quickly. The mask contains bentonite clay, denatured alcohol, activated charcoal, castor oil, and tea tree oil.
Black Girl Sunscreen
Sunscreen is so important, and it’s something I just recently started wearing daily. I know, shame on me! If you don’t do anything else in your skincare routine, please wear sunscreen! I purchased the Black Girl Sunscreen SPF 30. I was looking for something that did not leave a white cast on my skin. Let me tell you, this is it y’all. This goes on so smoothly and is very lightweight on the skin, and can easily be applied on top of your moisturizer.
Highlighted Ingredients:
Avocado: moisturizes, reduces signs of aging and treats sunburns.
Jojoba: soothes, moisturizes, and hydrates the skin.
Cacao: packed with powerful anti-oxidants and evens out the complexion of your skin giving it a smooth, even skin tone.
Carrot Juice: contains vitamin C. Promotes healing and can boost the level of melanin in the skin.
Sun Flower Oil: prevents skin irritation from sunburn and other skin irritants. This nutrient-rich oil provides inflammation relief as well.

Mented Cosmetics
Yes, I purchased another foundation. In my defense, I needed a Summer shade and something lightweight cause its hot! I bought the Skin by Mented Duo which is a foundation stick and brush. My shade is D30 which is for deep skin with cool undertones. The shade matches my skin well and has a buildable, lightweight formula. The brush was also great, it made blending out the product super easy.
Sensual Candle Co.
The first thing I want to say about this brand is that their website is absolutely stunning. It is so chic and has the most beautiful layout, it gives me some serious cozy vibes. The product descriptions are so creative and well thought out. I purchased the Shai Sensual Candle, it smells so delicious. These candles are made with coconut wax and wood wicks.
It has all my favorite scents like sandalwood, musk, jasmine, and amber. This candle is described as a balance where masculine meets feminine. There is also a suggested playlist for each candle! Like, come on! Can this get any better?
I can just picture myself taking a long bath in dim lighting while this candle is burning, and Solange blessing my eardrums.
Top Notes: Mandarin, Sage, Citrus
Middle Notes: Cedar, Jasmine, Lavender
Base Notes: Sandalwood, Amber, Dark Musk, Oakmoss
KKW Beauty
I absolutely love KKW Beauty Nude Creme lipsticks! They are so creamy and pigmented, and the packaging is very chic. There was a sale going on so I got some of the matte lipsticks from the 90’s collection including the matte lipstick set.
KKW Beauty recently launched nude glosses that correspond with the nude creme lipsticks. I currently have the shades 7 and 8 in the lipstick. In the glosses, I purchased the shades 3.5, 4, and 7. So far I love them, they can be worn alone or on top of a lipstick.
Native
Let me tell you, if I had known that aluminum deodorants didn’t work I would’ve switched to a natural product sooner. I decided to try Native deodorants, and I got the scent of Coconut & Vanilla. It smells great and isn’t too strong. My main concern was not smelling my body odor throughout the day. I also slap some in between my boobs, because boob sweat lol.
Necessarie
Necessarie is the most luxurious body care brand I’ve ever used. I fell in love with the unscented body lotion and sandalwood body wash. They also sell a body exfoliator that I’ve been wanting for some time now. I purchased this in the scent sandalwood, it smells so fresh and clean, and it lingers on my body throughout the day.
Books
I have neglected books for far too long, and what better time than during quarantine to pick up a book? I took a trip to Barnes & Noble and bought Little Fires Everywhere by Celeste Ng for some entertainment.
Saving money and trying to find new streams of income has become more important to me as I get older. Setting myself up for the future and being financially stable is daunting, so I thought I would read Broke Millennial Takes on Investing: A Beginners Guide to Leveling Up Your Money by Erin Lowry.
I haven’t finished either of these books, but I will definitely update you with my thoughts.
What are some items you purchased in quarantine? I would love to know, so leave me a comment below!
xx,
Brianna
