Skincare is so important for healthy glowing skin. A routine should take place both in the morning and at night. Skincare products that are used during the day are formulated to protect your skin against environmental stressors like the sun and pollution. Nighttime skincare is all about repairing the damage done to your skin during the day. Today I am sharing how you can take care of your skin at night. These are the steps I follow every night before bed and the products I have been loving lately.
Makeup Remover
The first step in any nighttime skincare routine is to remove your makeup with a cleansing oil or balm. I find that these products remove makeup much better than makeup wipes. The Take The Day Off Makeup Remover is very gentle and great for the most sensitive parts of your face like your lashes, eyelids, and lips.
I talked about this product in my 5 skincare favorites. It comes in both an oil and a balm and it quickly dissolves makeup including that waterproof mascara.
Cleanser/Exfoliator
Now its time to remove the remaining makeup, dirt, and oil from the skin with your favorite cleanser or exfoliator. I try to exfoliate once or twice per week so my skin doesn’t end up drying out and creating excess oil.
Toner
I am obsessed with toner, it’s the final step of cleansing the skin. It removes everything that the first two steps may have missed. Toner also balances your skin’s ph and helps the skin soak in the remaining products in your routine.
Masks
Apply a face mask to help the products sink deeper into your skin once per week for extra hydration. Your skin can never have too much hydration. My go to mask is the Boscia Luminizing Black Charcoal Mask. I love using this to further detoxify my skin and cleanse my pores. It helps to minimize the apperance of pores and leaves my skin smooth and radiant. I apply a generous layer all over my face or the areas that are more congested, then I peel it off after it is completely dry.
Treatment/Serum
I’ve been loving The Ordinary Hyaluronic Acid for both my morning and nighttime routines. This products absorbs fast and keeps the excess oil to a minimum. It is important to choose products based on what your skin needs so that you can properly target these areas and see results.
Oil
Applying oils to your skin at night is the best strategy because this way your skin has time to absorb the oils, and give you a glowing complexion. I normally use the YTP Superberry Hydrate + Glow Oil to further hydrate my skin. By morning my skin is feeling smooth and glowy.
Eye Cream
Your undereye is very sensitive and produces little oil and eye cream helps keep this area hydrated. Not to mention, it can also help with puffiness, fine lines, and dark circles. The Fresh Rose Hydrating Eye Gel Cream is new to my collection, but I can’t put it down. The gel texture is super hydrating and it has hyaluronic acid which helps retain mouisture.
Moisturizer
The final step of your nighttime skincare routine is to apply a night cream. A night cream should be very hydrating and help lock in all the products you’ve just applied. They are also a lot heavier on the skin than your normal moisturizer used during the day.
My nighttime routine is not much different from my morning routine, but as you can see I use more products at night. How do you take care of your skin at night? What products do you use in your nighttime skincare routine? Let a girl know!
