The Taurus in me has a self-care routine for every situation. A bad day, a tough workout, an argument with a friend? You name it, I can find any reason to practice self-care. With that being said, I thought I would let you in on my evening self-care routine.
I am a huge believer in having some dedicated time for yourself. A lot of us are working from home these days and it has become even more difficult to separate work and home life. It is such a great idea to come up with an evening self-care routine that you can use to properly wind down every night.

Shower
My routine begins the moment I walk through the door by hopping in the shower and washing the day away. I am someone who takes long showers because they are so relaxing, but I know that saving water is very important. If you are like me, try to limit your shower to 10 minutes. My skincare routine also begins in the shower by double cleansing and exfoliating my body.
Nighttime Skincare Routine
This is my favorite part of my routine because I get to pamper myself for a few minutes. If you really want to take your nighttime skincare routine up another notch try using a facial steamer before applying your skincare products. This will open up those pores and allow those products to penetrate deeper into your skin.
The Routine:
Comfy Clothes
I am the queen of comfy clothes and if I could be in sweats and a baggy t-shirt every day I would. Work clothes can be so constricting and uncomfortable, and I know a lot of you have to wear nice shirts for your daily Zoom calls. Take it off, bra included!
Dinner
Dinner is a must or a light snack depending on your mood. To make it easier on yourself you can prepare dinner the night before. This will be one less thing for you to do the following evening. I like to eat foods that satisfy me rather than make me feel stuffed.
Prepare for work by picking out your outfit before bed to save time in the morning. I also make lunch at night so I am not tempted to eat takeout. Making quick easy meals that focus on macronutrients (carbs, protein, and fat) makes it less of a hassle to come up with a meal idea. Pinterest is full of easy recipes if you can’t decide what to make for lunch or dinner. You can also try purchasing a cookbook filled with fun recipes to try.
Watch a show/YouTube
Some would say that I watch way too much television and I would have to agree, but adding this into my evening self-care routine helps me wind down after work. It’s not exactly healthy to binge-watch Netflix or YouTube, but I find it relaxing. Right now I am watching 24 on Hulu. It’s about the Counter Terrorist Unit in Los Angelos. I also enjoy watching vlogs, hauls, haircare, and beauty channels on YouTube.
Journal or Read or color
All three of these activities are very relaxing. Keeping a journal can be very beneficial for your mental health. I’ve found that it has helped me get through some of the toughest times in my life.

Reading is something that I wish I did more, because not only is it entertaining it can also be educational. Right now I’m reading Little Fires Everywhere and so far so good. Have you read any good books lately?
Adult coloring books have been popular for some years now and are quite relaxing. It also helps ease your mind because you’re focused on coloring inside the lines. I have an excess amount of colored pencils, markers, and crayons.
These are some things that help me wind down after work and relax my mind before bed. What are some things you have included in your evening self-care routine?

Brianna
