In the last 6 months, I would say that my nighttime skincare routine has changed drastically. With the addition to some new products, my skin has never looked or felt better. It’s been a while since I shared my nighttime routine, so I thought I would do that today. Surprisingly some of the products that once filled my vanity are a thing of the past! Shocker!
I like to keep things simple in my morning skincare routine, but at night I love taking a few extra minutes to pamper myself. This routine has a few more steps than my morning routine which can sometimes seem like a big task especially after work. Skincare is an investment and a commitment, and if you stick to it, you’ll see some amazing results!
Some of the products in this routine will cater to my oily peeps out there, but let’s go ahead and get into this nighttime skincare routine shall we? Below is the correct order to apply skincare, correct meaning what all the experts and beauty bloggers say lol.
Double Cleansing:
This is definitely something new I’ve added to my routine that I wish I had done sooner. Double cleansing is so important especially if you wear makeup everyday. One cleanser doesn’t remove all the excess dirt and oil that builds up throughout the day, so first go in with an oil-based cleanser. Doing this will get rid of makeup, sunscreen, and sweat. At first, I didn’t think double cleansing was necessary, but I noticed that when I applied toner there was still buildup left behind.

Water-Based Cleanser:
After you’ve rinsed off your cleansing balm with warm water follow it up with your favorite water-based cleanser. This will ensure that your skin is clean and when you apply toner, there should be no leftover dirt or makeup.
Toner:
One thing I find myself switching constantly is toner and this always depends on what my skin needs. Glycolic acid toners come into play about once or twice per week. This is a very strong ingredient for my skin, so I try to use it sparingly. The benefits of glycolic acid are great, it exfoliates the skin and reduces the appearance of pores (Ummm yes, please!). While those benefits are wonderful, I’ve had a few bad reactions. If you have any suggestions, please let me know!

Serum:
Hyaluronic acid serums are my jam right now because they leave my skin so hydrated and keeps any excess oil under control. I’ve written about my love for HA in many posts, and it has truly changed my skin. I also like to use Vitamin C serums for brightness, even skin tone, and hyperpigmentation. Retinol is the next ingredient I would like to add to my nighttime skincare routine because everybody and their mama swears by it.

Eye Cream:
I am still on the hunt for the perfect eye cream for that hydrates the skin and reduces under-eye puffiness at the same time. In the meantime, the Belif Moisturizing Eye Bomb is great for adding extra hydration to the under eye. It targets fine lines, wrinkles, loss of firmness, and dryness. The skin around your eyes is thinner and more sensitive than the rest of the skin on your face. The type of eye cream you need will depend on what skin concerns you are trying to target.
Moisturizer:
Another new thing I’ve been doing is using an overnight mask as my moisturizer. These give my skin so much hydration and leave it soft and plump in the morning. If there is any product leftover I always make sure to remove it with warm water and cleanser.
Oil:
Last, but not least to lock in the moisture I apply facial oil.
Gentle Jane Superfoods + CBD Glow Oil
This oil contains 500 mg of CBD and a blend of superfoods including chia seed, marula, avocado, grapeseed, and cucumber. It leaves your skin glowing and hydrated. I like to use this at night because it is on the heavier side. If you are interested in this product, you can use the code BRIANNA10 for $$ off at checkout.
Youth to The People Superberry Hydrate + Glow Oil:
This is a quick absorbing oil packed with rare berry antioxidants. It leaves my skin glowing like no other and very soft. It also contains prickly pear and squalane.
Lip Mask:
Okay, this is really the last step. I like to apply a lip mask before bed to soften and hydrate my lips. Don’t forget your lips in your nighttime skincare routine. They need love too. I love the Laneige Sleeping Lip Mask, it smells like strawberries and you almost want to eat it lol. I also apply the lip balm in the morning.
Have you changed your nighttime skincare routine lately?
xx,
Brianna
