Today I am sharing 4 binge-worthy podcasts to listen to right now. I never thought I would be into podcasts, they didn’t seem interesting to me. Now I find myself listening on my way to work, in the gym, and when I’m doing some Sunday cleaning.
The best time for me to listen to a podcast is during my morning commute. The traffic in Northern, VA is terrible, and listening to my favorite podcasts is a great way to kill time.
I listen to a mixture of podcasts that inspire me, make me laugh, and for pure entertainment. The best part about podcasts is that they’re free. I also enjoy the fact that I can learn a little something too. Right now I am particularly interested in self-improvement and pop culture shows. If you’re interested in listening to podcasts, keep reading for my top four podcast picks.
The Bellas Podcast
I grew up with all boy cousins and if you know what that is like, you know that what you want to watch on TV doesn’t matter. Naturally, I became a WWE fan and now you can catch me watching smackdown and raw every Monday and Friday night lol. When I saw the Bella Twins over a decade ago, I instantly became a fan of theirs because they helped change so many things for women in their industry.
Nikki and Brie Bella often speak candidly about their past struggles and triumphs and empower women all at the same time. As I said, I’ve been watching WWE since I was a kid, and when I saw these two on TV I fell in love. They are always true to themselves and their beliefs, they share so much of their lives both on social media and TV.
Dead Ass with K & D
Khadeen and Devale Ellis are a married couple who host Dead Ass with K & D. They keep it real about marriage, sex, their careers, and raising three children as Millenials. I love them because they share their real experiences of being married with children, and how marriage can change a relationship.
They are very honest about the sacrifices it takes to be in a committed relationship. These two basically grew up together as 18-year-old college kids, and have turned their lives into something spectacular. As someone who has big dreams and aspirations, I really enjoy listening to their input on life. It is inspiring to see black success stories and how they plan to create generational wealth for their family.
Pretty Big Deal
Okay, so I am obsessed with Ashley Graham. Not only is she beautiful, but she’s also so inspiring. Ashley is all about self-love and women empowerment, her podcast features different people speaking about their successes and challenges. I don’t know about you, but listening to people especially women speak about how they became successful is so therapeutic. It often puts a lot of things into perspective for me. Also, Is it just me, or is her laugh super contagious? Ashley is unapologetically herself and shares real
The Secret Lives of Black Women
This one is for my chocolate girls out there, but all women can benefit from this podcast. Charla and Lauren talk about what it’s like to be a black woman in a predominantly white environment. Topics include being black in the workplace, black beauty standards, and so much more. I found this podcast to be particularly insightful because I am a black woman. I find it to be very reassuring to know that someone who looks like me is experiencing or having the same thoughts that I am.
Listening to podcasts has become a part of my self-care routine. You probably noticed that I really enjoy listening to podcasts about women empowerment and women sharing their truth. There is nothing more satisfying than knowing that people you admire or look up to have been in the same exact position as you. Listening to these women motivates me to never stop chasing my dreams and lets me know that it’s okay to not have it all together.
What podcasts are you listening to? I am always searching for new podcasts to listen to on my way to work. If you have any suggestions for podcasts to listen to right now leave them in the comments.
