If you would have told me a year ago that I would have my own blog, I would’ve said who me? Shy, introverted Brianna? Yeah right! Today I want to share the reasons I started a blog and how it has helped me gain confidence.
I honestly needed something else to do that I enjoyed. Life can be so repetitive and oftentimes boring. Everyone needs some type of creative outlet or hobby and mine happens to be blogging and creating content for my website and Instagram.
Creativity
I would like to say that I have always been a creative person. I’ve always been interested in things like fashion design, interior design, and photography. Being creative and having creative freedom is what really drew me to blogging. I can also give a lot of credit to YouTube because their jobs looked so glamorous. My perception of the bloggers I looked up to quickly changed when I decided to create my own blog. It’s a lot of work behind the scenes that nobody sees or understands. The internet is all about visuals and creating those visuals can be challenging.
There are certain pressures that I place on myself to constantly create content and make each post better than the last. I am learning that even though I want this to be my full time job, I can’t forget that this is supposed to be fun.
Community
Finding my people is another reason I started a blog. I wanted to connect with other people that had the same interests as me (beauty and skincare). It has always been hard for me to make friends because of social anxieties and the fear of being judged. I figured that this would be an easier way to reach out to others and learn more about skincare and makeup.
This blog has introduced me to so many wonderful men and women who have given me advice and encouragement. I also found out how much I love Facebook groups, they are so helpful and give such great advice as well. Content creating has brought up many challenges, and these groups make it a little easier.
Confidence
Life post-college is difficult, and I am still trying to gain confidence in myself. I’ve learned that this is a life long journey, and starting this blog has given me the confidence I’ve never had. After posting many blogs my writing has gotten better, my photos on Instagram have gotten better, and others have started to notice. I was afraid to go for the things that I’ve wanted, and because of this blog, I am able to do other things in life that once seemed too scary.

Passion
If you haven’t noticed this blog is all about skincare and makeup. Those are the two things that I am passionate about. I wanted to learn more about the beauty world and share my knowledge with others. I am also a dark skin woman and we are very underrepresented in this industry. It is hard to find makeup that matches my skin tone, and I know I’m not the only person who struggles with this. So if I can help someone in the way that Jackie Aina has helped me and so many others I will be happy.
There is nothing better than finding your passion and turning that passion into your career. I genuinely enjoy taking photos and writing about beauty-related topics.
Thanks for reading, I hope you enjoyed this post. Have you started a blog? If so what do you blog about and why? What are you passionate about? I would love to know!
xx,
Brianna
