Sunscreen has a bad reputation in the past. The scent was never pleasant and was oftentimes sticky. Oh, and don’t get me started on the white cast!
Today I am sharing four sunscreens for oily skin and acne prone skin. Sunscreen is so important because it protects your skin from skin cancer, signs of aging like wrinkles, fine lines, and dark spots. Sunscreen should be a part of your daily skincare routine, so don’t forget it!

Sunscreen has come a long way and I can’t believe the different types of sunscreens that are on the market today. Sunscreen can be found in makeup, moisturizer, primer, and so much more. There’s even sunscreens that provide hydration and control excess oil production.
The dilemma comes when you’re trying to find a sunscreen that won’t clog pores or add excess oil throughout the day. You are in luck because I’ve found a few sunscreens for oily skin. These are all perfect to wear under makeup, primer, moisturizer and worn alone.

Sunscreen Terms:
SPF: Sun Protection Factor measures the sunscreen’s ability to protect the skin from UVB rays. An SPF of 30 will protect your skin from burning for about 5 hours or 300 minutes. An SPF lower than 30 isn’t effective.
Broad Spectrum UVA/UVB: This protects against both UVA and UVB rays.
UVA: Ultraviolet A causes skin aging and skin cancer. It doesn’t burn the skin, but it penetrates deeper than UVB rays which can accelerate the aging process.
UVB: Ultraviolet B rays cause sunburn and affect the top layer of the skin and are more intense than UVA rays.
Black Girl Sunscreen SPF 30:
This goes on so smoothly and is very lightweight on the skin, and can be used as a moisturizer for the face and body. This contains a lot of ingredients that hydrate and moisturize the skin including avocado and jojoba. It is also formulated with sunflower oil which prevents skin irritation from sunburn.

Glossier Invisible Shield SPF 35:
This is an invisible sunscreen that is lightweight and fast absorbing. It works well with makeup and won’t leave a white cast on your skin. There is sweet orange peel oil which means this product is not fragrance-free. I know a lot of people like to steer clear of this, but this hasn’t irritated my skin at all.
Supergoop Unseen Sunscreen SPF 40:
This sunscreen is also invisible and oil-free. It goes onto the skin very smoothly giving it a soft, natural finish. This is great under makeup because products stick right to it. It reminds me of the Milk Makeup Grip Primer but with sunscreen. This also doubles as a moisturizer.
Neutrogena Clear Face SPF 55:
Don’t you love affordable products? This is the most affordable sunscreen on this list at $12.49. It also has the highest SPF and can be worn on the face and body. The formula is lightweight and oil-free which makes it perfect for oily skin and can be layered on top of other products.
What are you favorite sunscreens for oily skin?
